TL;DR Listen Below to hear my beautiful voice (Sorry I drop some French in this)
Why I Love LinkedIn
LinkedIn has real people attached to each account. Unlike other social media sites, LinkedIn has the ability to make high-quality connections to move your career forward.
I can't stress this enough. A connection on Linkedin is much more valuable than any other site. The connections that you make can actually benefit you because they are less likely to be bots. It's not about follower or subscriber count.
Rather, it's about knowing who each of your connections are.
Here is a personal anecdote:
In 2019 I made a connection with Ryan. Ryan was in the same industry as I was: IT Lead Generation. We work for IT companies to call and email prospects to set meetings with the goal of earning new business.
There was one day where Ryan had posted his personal cell phone number saying that if young professionals had questions for him they could call him. I took him up on this offer and asked him everything about being an entrepreneur from cash flow to healthcare. He took my call, gave me as much information as he could, and sympathized with me and my situation. He gave me advice and friendship and a time where I needed it most.
This example is one of a dozen I could give where people are more easily accessible on LinkedIn than any other platform.
Why I don’t put my employer on Linkedin: 2 Reasons
#1 I don’t want my connections to ever think I am going to “pitch-slap” them on behalf of Some corporation. I’ve done it TOO MUCH in the past and I am still repenting….
#2 I have been asked in the past to remove posts from my employer. I’ll post whatever the fuck I want thank you very much.
